From time to time, we take a break from Bollywood celebrities to feature beautiful women in sports such as Dipika Pallikal and Sania Mirza. Now we focus on the tall basketball player Pratima Singh (see photo below), who is now making headlines for announcing her marriage to cricketer Ishant Sharma on December 9.
Pratima Singh was born in Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh on February 6, 1990. She plays the small forward and shooting guard position for the Indian women's basketball team, at a commanding height of 5 feet 8 inches (or 1.73 meters). Her sisters are members of the national basketball squad (Priyanka, Divya, Prashanti and Akanksha).
Her skills on the hardcourt are quite amazing. She won a gold medal for India in the 1st three-on-three FIBA Asia Championship. Really really impressive. So is her beauty! Her soon-to-be-husband, cricketer Ishant Sharma must be proud of her!

Like in our previous post about sexy tennis player Sania Mirza, we are taking another break from posting about the beautiful women of Bollywood to feature another athlete who has restored our pride and faith on the Indian people. We are talking, of course, about the squash player Dipika Pallikal. She - along with her teammate Joshna Chinappa recently won gold medals at the 20th Commonwealth Games last August 2, Saturday. Just look at that sweet smile, isn't she gorgeous (see photo)!
The victory gave them a place in history. It is the country's first ever medal in squash doubles for the said tournament. In the finals, they defeated England's Laura Massaro and Jenny Duncalf, with a score of 11-6 and 11-8 in the 10th day of said competition. Here's a photo of the beautiful ladies, posing with their gold medals (see below, from Agence France-Presse).
Dipika Pallikal was born on September 21, 1991 in Chennai. She has a height of 1.60 meters. Currently ranked the tenth best squash player in the world, she is coached by Australian Sarah Fitz-Gerald and is exclusively using the Technifibre brand of squash racquets.
Her tour career for the World Squash Association (WSA) is really commendable. She won the gold at the following: Orange County Open (United States) and the Crocodile Challenge Cup (Hong Kong) in 2011, and in 2013, at the Meadowood Pharmacy Open (Canada). In recognition to her achievements in the said sport, she has won the Arjuna Award in 2012 and the Padma Shri in 2014.

On this post, we are turning our spotlight into sports, in our attempt to prove that sportswomen can rival our Bollywood celebrities. We are doing this not only to give our writers a break but also to focus on sports, which is a scorching hot topic to beat the summer heat.
Born on November 15, 1986 is the pretty and talented athlete Sania Mirza (see photo), one of the best professional tennis players ever produced by India. For over a decade - from 2003 to 2013 - she was the highest-ranked player in the country. This year, even after her retirement from the singles competition, she managed to come out as a runner-up in the hard-surfaced 2014 Australian Open, playing with Horia Tecau of Romania.
This charming tennis player (see below) is really an achiever. As a player representing India (aside from her quite impressive professional record), she won four gold medals in the 2003 Hyderabad Afro-Asian Games (singles, women's doubles, mixed doubles and team). At the Asian Games, she won one gold (mixed doubles), and two silvers (silver and team) on 2006 in Doha; one silver (mixed doubles) and a bronze (singles) on 2010 in Guangzhou; and a bronze for mixed doubles in Busan in 2002. At the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi, she won a silver and a bronze for singles and women's doubles, respectively.
In case you don't know, the Indian government gave her the Padma Shri - the country's fourth highest honour - in 2006, which makes her more enticing and admirable! Yet, mere mortals like us can only dream for she is already married. But there's always divorce, right? Hahaha.
