Kamalinee Mukherjee was born on March 4 in Kolkata, West Bangal. She is quite a brainy girl, with a college degree in English literature and a background in theater acting.
She was first recognized through the Hindi film, "Phir Milenge" in 2004, where she played the role of Tanya Sanhi. The movie was said to be inspired by the Tom Hanks flick "Philadelphia", which also tackles the delicate and controversial issue of AIDS (acquired immunodeficiency syndrome) and workplace discrimination.
Since "Phir Milenge", she was seen in several critically-acclaimed films such as the Telugu film "Anand", where she won the Nandi Award for Best Actress; the 2008 film "Gamyam" and the 2009 film "Gopi Gopika Godavari", for which she was nominated for the "Filmfare Award for Best Actress - Telugu" for two consecutive years.
"Govindudu Andarivadele" may yet make her a strong contender for this year's best supporting actress category. She is really quite a stunning beauty with her girl-next-door looks (see photo).
